Homeschool

We have homeschooled our twin boys from the beginning. This wasn’t always the plan. I have two degrees in education and I taught public school. I never considered this path, until, one day, I did.

We started homeschooling because I needed the flexibility to continue with the various therapies the boys were in at the time. We have been in some sort of therapy with them since 2 years old (or 4 months old if you consider Dean’s cranial band and chiropractic adjustments therapy).

The boys have some learning differences, challenges that we face head on and help them overcome. It hasn’t always been easy or pretty but it has always been worth it.

After the first few years we weren’t in therapies as much and we didn’t really need the flexibility, but by then homeschooling was part of who we are as a family. They boys were thriving and we loved the life we were leading. Nathan’s job keeps him away from the house more than other jobs would, so the added flexibility of our schedule does help with that too.

Our current plan is that we will homeschool through graduation. The boys will be given the choice at 9th grade to continue with homeschool or to attend a public or private school. I have my opinions on this and some theories on which child might choose to enter an outside school. However, they frequently prove me wrong when I start predicting!

My goal is to make this page a landing page for homeschool things, most about the resources we use and the curriculum choices for the current school year. If you have questions please don’t hesitate to comment!
